        GROWING INSTRUCTIONS:

From early spring until mid summer in open ground; thin out if necessary. Easily sown direct in the garden. Sow little and often for a continuous crop.

        • PREPARE THE SOIL: Start by choosing a sunny spot in your garden and prepare the soil for planting carrots. Remove any weeds or stones from the area, and use a garden fork to loosen the soil to a depth of about 12 inches. Incorporate well-rotted compost or organic matter to improve the soil's fertility and drainage.
        • SELECT THE RIGHT CARROT VARIETY: Choose a carrot variety that suits your growing conditions and preferences. Consider the Jamieson Brothers brand, known for their high-quality carrot seeds. Look for varieties that are suitable for your climate and soil type, as well as those with desirable traits like resistance to pests or diseases.
        • SOWING THE SEEDS: Carrot seeds are small, so it's important to sow them thinly and evenly. Create furrows in the prepared soil, about half an inch deep and 12 inches apart. Place the seeds in the furrows, spacing them according to the variety's instructions. Cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil and gently firm it down.
        • SUCCESSFUL GROWING: it's crucial to provide adequate care and maintenance. Keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged, as excessive moisture can lead to rotting. Thin out the seedlings when they reach a height of about 2 inches, leaving about 2-3 inches between each plant. Mulch around the carrots to conserve moisture and suppress weed growth. Regularly monitor for pests, such as carrot fly, and take appropriate measures to protect your crop, such as covering with fine mesh or using organic pest control methods
        • ESTABLISHED IN SCOTLAND 1895: Jamieson Brothers were established in 1895 where we began selling our potatoes on a horse and cart.
